{"id":503,"date":"2023-09-28T18:28:39","date_gmt":"2023-09-28T18:28:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/knotts4multco.com\/?page_id=503"},"modified":"2024-03-13T21:49:59","modified_gmt":"2024-03-13T21:49:59","slug":"positions","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/brianknotts.com\/index.php\/positions\/","title":{"rendered":"Issues"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><strong>Basic Philosophy<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&nbsp;believe good legislation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>addresses a quantifiable problem<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>is tailored as narrowly as possible<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>is likely to be effective in its objective<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>is at the appropriate level of government<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n<h3><strong>Here are a few of my positions on issues facing the county:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-advanced-heading-97df10be\" class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-advanced-heading wp-block-themeisle-blocks-advanced-heading-97df10be\">Animal Control<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The review and revamp of Animal Services should continue, and while a new facility is needed, this will take time to build. In the meantime, the county should explore a temporary, leased facility, to allow more efficient operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-advanced-heading-09ca564b\" class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-advanced-heading wp-block-themeisle-blocks-advanced-heading-09ca564b\">Emergency Services<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The two-paramedic rule, unique to Multnomah County, should be repealed, which will allow improved response times, especially in rural areas of the county.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-advanced-heading-a11725e1\" class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-advanced-heading wp-block-themeisle-blocks-advanced-heading-a11725e1\">Non-profits<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>I call for an audit of every non-profit receiving more than $20,000 per annum from the county. We must make sure we, the taxpayers, are getting value for our money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-advanced-heading-49255b51\" class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-advanced-heading wp-block-themeisle-blocks-advanced-heading-49255b51\">Hard Drugs<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Measure 110 was a mistake. Voters were misled into passing this by outside groups with lots of money, and the results have been disastrous. It must be repealed. While I generally side with individual choice and responsibility, these drugs remove the consent of the user through rapid addiction or worse. This is a state issue, but the board has a voice, and should use it, just as Coos County&#8217;s board did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-advanced-heading-593023e5\" class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-advanced-heading wp-block-themeisle-blocks-advanced-heading-593023e5\">Graffiti\/Vandalism<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>We need to work with the Sheriff&#8217;s Office to aggressively combat this, and punish the vandals, instead of its victims (often small businesses) as it results in a general increase in the sense of lawlessness that has permeated our county.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Corrections<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>We must fully fund existing jail beds to provide the court system with a place to send criminals, as needed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Basic Philosophy I&nbsp;believe good legislation: Here are a few of my positions on issues facing the county: The review and revamp of Animal Services should continue, and while a new facility is needed, this will take time to build.
